"Diagonal" Alley at Trapped Escapes

I decided to sign our family up for an escape room adventure. I chose one of the Harry Potter rooms through trapped escapes. We did the newest one called a diagonal Alley which is an escape room that we have to solve a variety of puzzles to get all of the horcruxes to put into the pot and have the room be unlocked. We managed to get out withh five minutes spare. both kids really enjoyed it and would like to go try the other Harry Potter room some other time. They do have other rooms but my kids are such potterheads that I knew they would really like it.

During the first 10 minutes I wasn't sure it was such a great idea that I signed us up. I was really pushing and he's out of his comfort zone with this and he would not have chosen to do this on his own. The group of four we were paired up with were random we didn't know them. They had done escape rooms before and started going all over the place trying to look for clues and it felt kind of overwhelming in such a small space to have them moving around so much and talking about what to look for when we had no clue what was going on. but once we figured out as a group what we needed to do first and got that done then there was more Space to move around because another room got unlocked and there were multiple clues to start solving at the same time.

3rd Grade Basketball Team

Henry is on the 3rd grade basketball team for our school. During third grade our schools basketball teams collaborate with a nearby town park and rec. The coaches are two dads that stepped up to coach these boys, even though they have never coached before. if we have our own coaches we can have our own team and practice at our school otherwise through this collaboration the boys would have been split up and put on different teams.

They practice once a week up at the school & then Saturday mornings they have a scrimmage against one of the other teams through this program.

They have done to Saturday scrimmage is so far. The first scrimmage they we're tied and played really well against that team. But the scrimmage this past Saturday didn't go so well. The team they were playing obviously had coaches who were experiwenced and had the boys doing plays already and the boys they were playing we're very good at defense.

There are six different third grade teams and four of them are from the town that the park and rec department is in. Eventually those teams will be in the highest division for sports whereas our town will be class 1A, because our town is so small. I believe the other team that plays part of this park and rec collaboration is also a 1A team.

Christmas Caroling

Henry was elected by his classmates to be one of two Representatives on student council for his classroom. One of the things they elected to do as a group was go Christmas caroling at a nearby nursing home. He is in the picture in the center in front.
