27 Weeks, Start of 3rd Trimester

Can you believe it? It's the 3rd trimester now. Not much to report on. Am going in tomorrow morning to do my glucose screen. I did not have gestational diabetes with Isabel and it's not a family trait to have it, so I am not worried.

The Crib

Last night we set up the crib that we got for baby boy. Isabel was very excited about it and wanted to try it out. She didn't care for the mobile when she was a baby, but she loves it now. I also got all the sheets, blankets, burp rags, towels & washclothes washed for the baby. The darker crib color and the new rug really change the room from how it looked when Isabel was using the nursery and things were lighter.

I also hung up a series of small Noah's Ark pictures that I bought previously but didn't have a spot for and now since some stuff went with Isabel into her big girl room, there is not spots for a few things.

Latest OB Appt

Had an OB Appt today....was a standard one....his heartbeat is still at 140 bpm and everything looks good. My next appt (in 3 weeks) I will have the glucose screen done.

In other news, one of the moms I know was having a rummage sale and was selling a crib, so I went to check it out. It's an older one, actually it is the same one at my parents house (which I got for free from a friend). So, we'll probably set that up this weekend. So, the giftcard we got from Target with the recall money on it can be used to buy a video monitor (since ours is broken) or a Sit & Stand stroller or just lots of diapers. I do want to buy some sort of bin to keep underneath it to store blankets & sheets in.

26 Weeks

Yesterday was super busy and I didn't get a picture taken, so this is from today. Nothing new to really report, but I do have an OB appt. tomorrow, which is a regular routine one (no blood work or anything, but a weigh-in, check vitals, & listen to heart beat).

25 Weeks

I asked Isabel if she wanted to be in the picture and hold my belly, but she really thought she needed to be looking at my belly to hold it.

So, no progress on finding a new crib yet, basically because we just haven't looked. But we did buy a new area rug for the room and no longer are using that floral one in there.

Baby boy continues to move around a lot. And if there is a day when I am particularly active and don't sit much (so, he's rocked to sleep all day) then he starts kicking me at 10pm and doesn't stop for 2 hours. Then he is up again around 3am-ish and then again at 5:30am-ish. They say that they are already on their newborn sleep schedule at this age, so I am getting a taste of what that is going to be like. I didn't notice it as much with Isabel, but this one kicks me so much & so hard that he wakes me up.

So, I am starting to think that I will go to bed earlier than I do now & pump before I go so that daddy can do the feeding at 10pm and I can get a good chunk of sleep in at one time. It was actually a tip I just read in a parenting magazine as the good solution to letting moms get a 4 hour stretch of sleep, if to let dad take the first night feeding so that she can go to bed and sleep through that feeding and through the next sleep cycle of the child. So, this child is going to have to learn to take a bottle right away (which was the plan anyways, we don't want a repeat of what happened with Isabel after we waited 2 months.)

24 Weeks

Random thoughts related to baby boy:

It's funny looking back at the pictures in the slideshow, because at the time I could see that baby bump, but 12 weeks later - not so much.

Seems like the word has spread around daddy's family that we were considering naming baby boy "Henry", spread like wildfire. The thing is, that was the boy name for Isabel and we still like it, but we just haven't sat down and looked through a baby name book. There just isn't the time to do that with already having a child at home. That's not to say that we won't name him Henry, we just haven't talked about any other names. And it turns out it was a pretty big family names for both families. Grandma I seemed happy about the name Henry, although she informed me that in her family it was Henri. Daddy & I already ruled out the name with an "i".

I bought a five-year baby book & first year calendar (REALLY liked using that with Isabel) from Amazon. We'll see how good I do with those for a second child (or not).

Our crib was recalled, so that was returned this past weekend to Target and now we have to decide on a new crib to buy. We plan to buy another convertible crib so that it can grow with him.

Isabel talks a lot to the baby, which is so cute to see. She is also still insistant that she has a baby in her belly. She actually got to feel him kick (for real) the other day. She says she feels him kick all the time, but it is not really happening at that time. So, I got her to put her hand on my belly when he was kicking the other night. He is a lot more active than she was & I actually see my belly moving a lot with his kicks/punches. She was more relaxed in the womb. I think he has started getting hiccups too as I have been having these rhythmic hits every once in a while.

23 Weeks

Last weekend I think he moved up further and it didn't look like I was too pregnant. Usually I have to show my profile & pull my shirt in against my body for people to really see that I am pregnant. My belly is getting out beyond my boobs now, so I should start showing better. Other than that, now much else to report.
