3 Months Old & Length Chart

Henry was 3 months old yesterday. Yesterday we noticed he is purposefully reaching to grab things. We got out the exercausers yesterday too. He has great head control but needs to work on trunk control, so with a little help from a blanket behind his back for support he can sit up in here & play. It was actually the other exercauser that we noticed him making eye contact with a toy and grabbing for it (not batting aimlessly.) He also started grabbing hair yesterday too. Boo to that!

He still has cradle cap & we are working on getting rid of that. He has it worse than his sister ever did. His nightime sleeping usually consists of a 5-6 hour stretch and two 3-4 stretches for a total of 11.5-12 hours of night sleep. His sister had a longer stretch by this time but she was also swaddled & in her own room already. And then he naps usually between 4-5 hours (over 2-3 naps) for a total of 16 hours of sleep. He is starting to establish a sleep pattern. He still doesn't like to nap unaided (being held or in a swing or carseat), but you know - I'm not concerned. Isabel didn't either until about 4 months and she had to be swaddled too (he hates it, I mean HATES it!) And I read the book "The No-Cry Nap Solution" and everything he is doing is very normal and it isn't until after 4 months that they start to learn to sleep unaided.

Henry is now 27 inches long. If he starts to level out rather than increasing even more than the arc, then we hould only see about a 3/4 inch gain over the next month and each month thereafter until 6 months when he hits the next growth spurt. So, we will hopefully stay in 6-9 months for another month or two.
Here you can see the whole outfit. This outfit came from grandma & grandpa M. It has a drumset on the t-shirt underneath and the hoodie had rock music terms & instruments on it.
We are all set to have his baptism on the Sunday of Memorial Weekend. Our church service is at 10am. We will have to sit up front, as that is what they do at this church for baptisms. But this will be just his baptism, not a group one like his sister had at the church we were attending at that time. I keep thinking about buying a little suit for him, but figure I will pass on the darker colored ones out now and see what they have in a month or two when styles should be lighter for the upcoming Easter holiday.

13 Weeks Old & First Rollover

Today was a big day for Henry. He is 13 weeks old today and tomorrow he is 3 months old. And today he rolled over for the first time, from front to back. Baby Center says that rolling over from front to back starts as early as 2-3 months and rolling from back to front is 5-6 months. I think he was motivated to get rolling today because my friend Kirsi was over taking pictures of him and he was spending a lot of time on his stomach while she took pictures. He is pretty tolerant of tummy time, so was not as motivated to do this any earlier (like his sister at 10 weeks, who screamed anytime I put her on her belly.) So, I was pretty excited to see him rollover.

So, today he also has his 3 months pictures take. Like I said previously, my friend Kirsi took pictures. You can check out her blog and see a few pictures she took of the playdate and one of Henry. She is working on editting the rest and I will get them next week. She is working on continuing to develop her photography skills and set up a goal of taking pictures every day. So, today she came over for a playdate and to take 3-month pictures of Henry. I am very excited to see them next week.

I will get his length measurement tomorrow and on Tuesday I will take him to Amazing Newborn Clinic to get a weight.

He is a becoming quite verbal with mommy & daddy. He likes to coo and make lots of verbal sounds and is becoming skilled at imitating our facial gestures.

We have also begun to brush him gums with a finger brush. We started at 3 months with his sister as well and I thought it worked out really well to do that as part of the bedtime routine because it gave something (along with a story) that was done every night, since baths are done every other night. It also helped when we started brushing her teeth, she did not fight the toothbrush at all. So, I am hoping we have the same results with Henry.

Naples City Beach

He actually spent most of the time at this beach sleeping. He & daddy slept on the beach while mommy & Isabel playing in the sand, waves, & ran on the beach. We went to Bonita Beach afterward and it was quite windy and he does not care at all for the wind. He starts sputtering our spit when the wind is in his face. Poor little boy.

Imaginarium & Manatee Park

This was the first time that Henry got to put his feet in sand. It's so nice to go barefoot.

Florida 2010

Here is Henry on one of the beds in the guestroom. What festive & themed decorations they have here.
Here is Henry with his sister and grandma M. in the porch at the condo.

Henry first touches his feet in the ocean, well, Gulf of Mexico. Actually, this was the first time his sister even was in the ocean/gulf. But for Henry this was the first time his little feet touched any water that was not bath water. The water was quite chilly so we didn't go swimming, just walked in it. The resort doesn't allow infants in the pool, so he will have to try swimming another time.

My Dancer & Football Player

He just looks like he is going to grow up to play football. These are the pictures I took with mt camera phone, there are different ones on Isabel's blog that I took with the camera.

Thanks Lori for picking up this outfit for him!

First Time Snowshoeing

I strapped Henry to my chest while we went snowshoeing. His snowsuit, mitten, hat, & warm clothes and being strapped in to me kept him pretty warm. He actually slept most of the time. It was much more work this year with him strapped to me than last winter when we went & I wasn't even pregnant yet.

11 Weeks Old

Yesterday he was 11 weeks old. He still has a bit of a head cold and now the cough is a dry one rather than a chunky one. He is also now 26 inches. He has quite a long torso and will outgrow the 6-9 month one-piece outfits probably around 3 months, since we have another growth spurt coming up. I think I will be buying separates from now on, because he fits perfectly in 3-6 month pants and 6-9 months pants are a little long. But for tops & one-pieces that snap below the crotch I need 6-9 months, which will soon be outgrown. So, he will be in 9-12 month tops soon and 6-9 month bottoms. All 4 of us have long torsos, so this is not surprising.

Henry Watches On

For a small part of the morning crafting he napped & then this afternoon's crafting he hung out & watched us. And during storytime & when we played a game he just napped in my arms. He was kinda sleepy today, probably due to the congestion & cough he has. Darn sister bringing that stuff home from preschool.

Minnesota Children's Museum

He was awake a very small amount of the time there; mostly he slept while I carried him. But he did get to play a bit in the "Habitot" room. And I have to again give kudos to them for havind a breastfeeding room. which we used.

10 weeks Old

It's so hard to believe that he is 10 weeks old already. He is still sleeping in our room, but now is in the pack & play with the bassinette insert (the real bassinette he outgrew). I want him to be sleeping in longer stretches before he goes in his own room in his crib. It's already exhauting enough without me having to walk to his room for every feeding.

Today he was giving Isabel some pretty hearty chuckles when she was playing with him. I only get mediocre chuckles out of him.

We started our next Baby & Me class yesterday. At this one we do a lot of singing and movement play with the babies. He was awake & very alert for the whole thing. he was so interested in the other babies and couldn't take his eyes off the little girl closest to us. I had to tell him that she was a little old for him right now because she was TWICE HIS AGE. Ha!

Tonight, Isabel & I were looking at pictures of her when she was 10-12 weeks old. My oh my, do they ever look alike. We watched a video of her rolling from her stomach to her back at 11.5 weeks old. She first did that when she was 10 weeks old, which is SUPER early for that direction, but she hated being on her stomach whereas he can be ok with it.

He on the other hand just kicks & pumps those legs and twirls around on his back & tries leaning to a side. Sometimes I think looks is the only way we can tell they are subkings because they seem so much different with everything.

He is officially out of 3-6 months clothes and wearing 6-9 months. He's my big little boy.

This last week, Uncle Brian was back in the US for some training. Today was his last day & he didn't have anything he had to do for work, so he came down by us to spend the afternoon with us and to meet Henry. As I type this his plane should be getting ready to takeoff so he can begin his jouney back to Spain. Unless work brings him back, we probably won't see him again until Summer 2011.

Win a $25 Giftcard to Lowe's

My mom told me about this site, Knock Off Wood, because she & my dad are thinking about making Henry something from here (by the way, that idea is PERFECT!)

Anyways, she is giving away a couple of $25 gift cards to Lowe's.

I am loving looking through her blog, there are so many wonderful pieces of furniture on there to make. There is actually one thing on there (the benches & cubbies) that daddy really wants for our entry way. Now he can make it. :)

Hanging Out

New Years Weekend

Henry was able to meet many relatives this weekend that he had not met before. It was nice to see everyone.

He spent his 9-week day with 6 hours in the truck on our way to grandma & grandpa's farm. We did have an hour break in the middle so his sister could run around at McD's playland and Henry could nurse and we all could eat.
